Puerta del Ángel launches Animel, the neighbourhood's first doggy daycare

Madrid, 4 September 2026. — This month, Puerta del Ángel adds a new space designed for the care, welfare and enjoyment of dogs. Animel, the neighbourhood's first doggy daycare, will celebrate its opening next Friday, 11 September, from 19:00, with an event open to families with dogs.

The occasion will serve to officially present the new centre and introduce its proposition to the residents. Throughout the evening there will be various activities, including a free dog training workshop.

Much more than just a doggy daycare

Animel presents itself as a social dog centre that brings together under one roof a daycare, services, activities, and products related to animal welfare. The project has been spearheaded by Giovanna Ficarazzi, Veterinary Technical Assistant specialising in dog and cat rehabilitation and physiotherapy, following a process of training and preparation that resulted in a space specifically conceived to meet the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of dogs.

The centre features a cage-free daycare, with two spacious rooms adapted for animal welfare, distinct areas for rest and play, and state-of-the-art climate control. Animel is authorised and registered with the Community of Madrid's Companion Animal Centre Register, under the number ES280791000397.

Its approach is based on a simple premise: a dog's wellbeing goes beyond its basic needs. For this reason, the centre is committed to professional and individualised attention, taking into account the behaviour, character, and specific needs of each animal.

Activities to enjoy together

Animel's proposal also seeks to have dogs and their guardians share experiences. One of its most unique activities is Doga, or dog yoga, an officially authorised discipline that combines relaxation and connection exercises to encourage calm and strengthen the bond between both.

The sessions are designed as a moment of shared enjoyment, in which the dog and guardian participate in the activity together. This philosophy extends to other offerings at the centre, such as professional photography sessions designed for families who want to keep a special memory with their dogs.

A new meeting point for Puerta del Ángel

Beyond offering a daycare service, Animel wants to be part of the neighbourhood's life and become a meeting point for families who live with dogs.

Workshops, activities, and experiences will serve as a starting point to create a community around animal welfare, facilitate exchange between guardians, and offer new ways to learn and enjoy time with their dogs.

“We want to create an active community of guardians who enjoy sharing experiences with their dogs and who understand wellbeing as something that is part of the whole family,” explains Giovanna Ficarazzi, founder of Animel. “Our intention is to offer tools and experiences that help families to enjoy their daily lives with their dogs more and to strengthen the bond they have with them,” she adds.
